Cherish the Moments

The long lazy afternoons of summer and fall are over, and the moments when the sun streams through my bedroom patio door are growing shorter and shorter.

Nekoka is squeezed into his favorite corner, which remains the longest in the sunshine.  I’m not sure how he can be comfortable with the railing poking into his chest but hey, he’s a cat, we shouldn’t even try to understand.

I can relate a bit more to Sassafrass on her favorite chair, propped up by my stuffed bears and crocheted flower afghan.  It may not get the sun as long, but it is much softer!

  1. They both look like they’re enjoying their spots…….! Cats can seemingly be comfortable in some pretty unusual locations AND positions…….like you said – who are we to question it – they wouldn’t be there if they weren’t totally comfy!

We have so many trees that for a while when the leaves begin to fall and the days are still a little longer we get more sunlight, but everyone stakes out the best places. Nekoka is a boy, you know, and would never be caught sleeping on a bunch of flowers. But I’ve seen them sleep in uncomfortable places and can’t figure it out.

It’s funny, I’ve had that afghan pattern marked for a while and have been gathering odds and ends of yarn from other projects–some day I’ll have one too!

Thanks – not only do I think they look great in the sun but they smell so good after one of their sunbathing sessions! I love burying my nose in their fur when they are all warm.

  5. They all make choices. It’s up to them to decide what is best for them. I think it defines their personalities. Beautiful photos!

Maynard The Maine Coon squeezes into the metal frame in the window that serves as a gate…there is a “third rail” non electrified but sharp nevertheless that makes me very nervous, but as you said, he’s a cat!

  7. ahhh…yes…sun puddles….luvluvluv them
