We have spent the last two and a half weeks on vacation and have been total slackers.
There has been a lot of this:
And a lot of this too:
There were some Christmas boxes though, so we had this:
which turned into this:
There was a whole lot of time spent in the computer room, with the requisite intense parrot supervision:
and this:
But then it snowed (I will never forgive my son for moving to Arizona and leaving me here to shovel all by myself!) which turned my lovely new rock garden into this fantasy land:
Doesn’t the snow make it look so pretty (well if you ignore the trash bins up the sidewalk).
There was also a whole bunch of crocheting going on. I got lot done on my shawl even with my sweet helper Nekoka seriously distracting me.
Whenever my fingers start feeling cold or cramped, he is there to generously donate his furry warmth to the cause.
He is such a giving soul.
And he asks for nothing in return. Except massages and scratches. And regular feedings. And lots of love.
And seriously, isn’t that what we all want?
Happy New Year, everyone!
Oh, and don’t forget – if things get down and you feel blue, there are always PAWS!
Happy New Year! Hire somebody to shovel some of that snow!
The kids in my neighborhood are lazier than I am!
Sounds like you had a wonderful “staycation”. Hanging out with cats–and birds–and crocheting sounds like bliss. Funny how we often do less when we have more time!
P.S. Cool shawl! Can’t wait to see it finished.
I need to find some way to retire early, I liked this vacation way too much.
Superb ! the best HNY post I’ve seen 🙂 Happy New Year to you all 🙂
Thanks and I’m going to try to make this year the best one yet (which I say every year LOL)
Sweet pictures!
I have some good subjects 🙂
Happy New Year! Staying at home with cats (and birds) is one of the best ways to spend vacation. I certainly think so! (And so do they :))
We definately think alike there! But man they really were mad at me the evening of my first day back to work – they like having me home.
Here’s to a happy and healthy 2013! We are so glad to be your pals! Mommy says your time off looks absolutely glorious.
If only it could last. But back to the work world I go.
Love love the colors in the shawl you are working on.
Here’s to a great 2013!
This is the best yarn I’ve ever worked with, its called Manos del Uruguay Maxima and its 100% merino wool. I’m using the Fractal and Prince colors for it and I just love it.
Yes – Manos is superb – I spin too and appreciate that luxury fiber!
I’ve gone on such a yarn binge lately I am at least four projects behind the yarn I have waiting … but that is such a good feeling!
OOH that is very bad – you are on the slippery yarn path now..:)
You make me feel like a slacker with all the crocheting you get done. I have yarn and here I sit at the computer…
Hey I put in plenty of computer time! I am almost embarrassed to admit how much time I spend either playing computer games, blogging (which includes reading others blogs!), and surfing various boards and youtube. I can spend hours on ravelry.com alone! I am a mess!
Ah Yes! Me loves to make biscuits on Mommy’s neck when she spends too long on her computer!
She LOVES that! No does mean more, right!?!
“Nellie, only if the claws are in”, Mommy
But me can’t help it…the claws has to comes in and out!
Kisses
Nellie
Has a furry happy New Year!
You and Nekoka have a lot in common I think 🙂
Happy New Year! A vacation is a great lead-in to the new year…..and just look at the pretty shawl you’re making….with help from the furry children of course……..
Pam (and Sam)
I love all the help I get – and the extra fur in the wool makes it that much better.
Great to see You All warm n cosy in your lovely home together.
Happy New Year, Dear Waseau, to You n Yours.
I hope it’s a comfortable n contented year for You n Your Lovelies.
Your rock garden does look lovely in the snow.. like a miniature of a huge alpine landscape. xxx
Happy New Year to you too! I just love the way the snow makes the rocks look. But I also can’t wait for spring to see my irises bloom!
Happy new year to you all, such great Photo’s 🙂 xx00xx
Mollie and Alfie

Happy New year to you all. 🙂
Thank you and hoping we ALL have a great year this year.
I am all for slackers.
I actually get a lot done when I’m on vacation but its stuff I like rather than chore type stuff 🙂
