Finally, a Plant I Can’t Kill

I think my crochet cactus turned out kind of cute, and as an up side, I think even I can keep this one alive.  I mean, I might have to wash it now and then but I can skip the fertilizing!  I have three more patterns with different amigurumi cactus to make – I’ll have a whole yarn garden!

We’ve been busy over this Labor Day weekend sprucing up the place and replacing some outworn cat and bird toys with new exciting versions.  Of course the cats stopped playing the minute I turned the camera on, but Nekoka and Sassy showed me a lovely moment of sibling interaction.

I finished a shawl which I’m very happy with – and its 100% cotton which makes it just a bit more comfortable out here in the triple-digit weather in Tucson – now that monsoon season is over and the skies are bright and empty of clouds again, the temperature is back up where it should be!   I’m telling you, there are some words I never thought I’d hear coming out of my mouth – like “wow, its ONLY 95 degrees!”

Sassafrass finally trapped that pesky back foot and gave it a stern talking too.

Merlin has gotten decidedly bored with working from home.  He’s not the only one.  It is very hard sometimes to maintain my concentration.  Not sure how long I’m going to be able to keep this up!

Bandit spends some of the working day sticking his toenail in his ear.  He looks a little ragged in this photo, but that’s because he is wet from an afternoon bath.  This is one of the many distractions working from home brings – giving the parrots baths and showers.

And yet another distraction.  Nekoka spent some time in the bag.  Don’t tell anyone.

Granddaughter Lilith is plumping out, looking adorable in purple.  Acorn doesn’t fall far from the tree.

Jupiter, one of my son’s three cats, is a bit jealous of the attention the baby gets.  Tony makes sure he gets some lap time, even if Jupiter does have to share it with Lilith.  He is not quite as happy when they let Lilith sit on him.

Bandit also hates to share — especially his peas and corn.

Merlin could care less about the snap peas, he’s all about the corn.  Everyone in my family has a sweet tooth, even the birds!

My little bookends.  I have a feeling they were looking at a spider but I hope not, because they were both too lazy to chase it down.

They have such a rough life.

Thank you! It was so much fun to make, a lot different than my usual shawls or afghans. I’m not used to crocheting tightly! I have three more patterns of different cactus pots to do and then will have a whole indoor yarn garden 🙂
